Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar on Wednesday called on former chief Jagmohan Dalmiya and sought his cooperation in resolving the legal issues facing the cricket body.

Pawar, who was elected president on Tuesday, went to Dalmiya's residence in South Kolkata this morning. The two were closetted for about half an hour.

Later, Pawar told reporters that he had sought Dalmiya's cooperation on pending cases that the BCCI is facing in and outside India.

"There are domestic as well as international issues. There are some legal problems which the Board faces in and outside India. If not properly handled, this may prove to be a serious liability to the Board and affect cricket," the Union Agriculture Minister said.

"Nobody except Dalmiya knows each and every issue and has studied each and every issue," he added.

"As the new president of the BCCI," he said, "it is my duty to request him for his cooperation and use his experience in the interest of the Board as well as Indian cricket."

Dalmiya, Pawar added, assured him cooperation in the larger interest of cricket and the organisation.
