Former Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya refuted allegations that he had leaked coach Greg Chappell's sensational e-mail, saying it is hard to comprehend how he could have gained any advantage by releasing it to the press.

Dalmiya said he is open for a thorough investigation into the case and also charged his detractors, like Raj Singh Dungarpur and I S Bindra, with following a one-point anti-Dalmiya agenda.

"If at all it was meant to serve any purpose, it should have come out on September 21 or 22, before the election. But it was published on the 23rd. It is foolish [to suggest that I leaked it]," he told a private news channel.

"There is a difference between release and leak. In my position I will come up with release and statements, and not leaks.

"Leak was what Raj Singh Dungarpur did when he was chairman of the selection committee. All that drama over Azhar's [Mohammad Azharuddin's] selection people like Bindra and Dungarpur leaked to the media."

Asked why he did not counter the allegation when it was made, Dalmiya replied, "It is his [Dungarpur's] one-point programme [to criticize]; if I have to deny everything that he says, everyday I will have to sit down for a couple of hours."

Dalmiya also said the allegations must be backed by some logic and he would welcome any investigation into the matter.

"I don't want it to be swept under the carpet," he added.
