Paceman Simon Jones is confident he will return for England's tour of India in February after undergoing surgery on his right ankle.

Jones, 26, missed the final Ashes Test against Australia with a bone spur injury in September and has pulled out of next month's tour to Pakistan following a recent operation.

"The operation went really well and I am feeling really good and really positive," he told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.

"I'll be running again in six weeks and bowling again in seven or eight, so I'm really looking forward to it.

"The India tour is a massive possibility -- it's what I am aiming for. I'm not doing this rehab for no reason."

Jones is no stranger to layoffs having been sidelined for 16 months after a serious knee injury in Australia in 2002.

He returned to better form than ever for this year's Ashes series and took 18 wickets at an average of 21 with his newly developed reverse swing.
