Mahendra Singh Dhoni praised for the recently concluded physical conditioning camp for the Indian squad held on the outskirts of Bangalore at an army training centre.

"It was a fantastic experience. New techniques of physical work-outs were tried out. We enjoyed them a lot," said the Ranchi-based stumper on the sidelines of a promotional event in Mumbai.

The Indian players selected for the August 14-29 tri-series in Sri Lanka underwent commando training at the Bangalore camp in which they were made to do tough physical exercises like rope climbing, hurdles clearing et all.

The 25-year-old swashbuckling batsman was modest about his achievements at the international level in which he first cemented his place with his scintillating knocks in one-day cricket and then forced his way into the longer version of the game, Test cricket, too.

"I never dreamt that I would play for India. I have still a long way to go. I have been playing for only 18 months (at the international level)," said Dhoni, who has accumulated 602 runs in 13 Tests and 1467 runs in 47 ODIs so far.

The Jharkhand star said his career path had not been paved with roses all the way so far but had involved a lot of hard work and he needed to continue to perform consistently well to stay on course.

"It has not been easy. You have to keep performing consistently. There will be a series where you will perform brilliantly and there will also be a series where you will not be able to score runs. So you have to be ready for anything," Dhoni said.
