Tendulkar says he is fit

Seeking to put an end to the controversy over his fitness, Sachin Tendulkar has said he is fit and raring to go.

"It hasn't been easy not being part of the team and I missed it a lot. But I am looking at the positives, and yes, I feel fit and just happy to be back. I am ready to give my best," he told CNN-IBN in an interview to be telecast on Tuesday.

A fresh debate on his fitness had ensued after coach Greg Chappell said Tendulkar was still not fully fit and unable to throw the ball from the deep.

But Tendulkar said his shoulder is holding up quite nicely now.

"I had to go through a gradual increase in workloads and follow a particular rehabilitation programme. It was a step by step process. Batting was never a problem. Occasionally there was pain while throwing and bowling. But it has settled down and I am feeling positive."

Tendulkar said his latest injury taught him the virtues of patience and pitfalls of going overboard.

"There were times when I went to bat and was asked to bat only 20 balls, I wanted to bat 40-45 but realised that there was a need to hold back. I have learnt to follow a programme religiously."

Tendulkar was however quick to point out that there are no regrets whatsoever.

"I am a positive person and there is no room for regrets in my kit bag. You always want to move forward."
