England are determined to recover from their heart-breaking defeat in the second Test with strong performances in the rest of the Ashes series, according to opener Andrew Strauss.
The touring side lost by six wickets in Adelaide after collapsing with the bat on the final day and Strauss said they were looking to put that loss firmly behind them, starting in Perth on Thursday.
"We knew it was going to be tough at the start of the series and it's a little bit tougher now," Strauss told reporters after scoring 88 in England's tour match against Western Australia. "But we've got every intention of playing the sort of cricket we need to play in these last three games. There's a lot of determination in the camp."
Strauss shared a fluent stand of 183 against Western Australia with his England opening partner Alastair Cook, a welcome return to form for the two left-handers who struggled for runs in the first two Tests against Australia.
"There's a lot of guys who feel like they've got a point to prove this series because they haven't played well," Strauss said. "We've got three games left to do it."
England, 2-0 down in the series, need to win at least two of the last three Tests to retain the Ashes they won back at home last year for the first time since 1989.
The touring side have no scheduled practice session on Monday.
