Sri Lanka crashed to a seven-wicket defeat by Victoria in their opening one-day game in Australia on Wednesday.

The tourists collapsed to 120 all out before Victoria cruised to victory with more than 25 overs to spare at Melbourne's Central Reserve.

Victorian left-arm seamer Allan Wise captured 5 for 27. Wicketkeeper Kumara Sangakkara was the only Sri Lanka player to score more than 20, although his effort of 33 was one less than the extras total.

The Sri Lankans, beaten 4-1 in their one-day series with New Zealand that ended last weekend, arranged the game as practice for Friday's opening one-day international against Australia.

"It was not what we were looking for for our first practice game in Australia," Sangakkara told reporters.

"I think we'll just put it down as a bad game and move on because it's not one of the tournament games."

Sri Lanka will join Australia and South Africa in a 12-match triangular series over the next month.

South Africa won their final warm-up game in Australia when Boeta Dippenaar top-scored with 80 to help the visitors to a 94-run win over Queensland in Brisbane on Tuesday.

Jacques Rudolph added 50 off 63 balls in South Africa's 205 for eight at the Gabba, where Australia beat the visitors in the inaugural Twenty20 match in the country on Monday.
