Bodapati Sumanth held the innings together with a magnificent 97 as the Indian under-19 team completed a series whitewash against their English counterparts with a nail-biting one wicket win in the third and last one-dayer at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Friday.

Chasing a target of 231, after England won the toss and elected to bat, India suffered a middle-order collapse but Sumanth stood tall at the other end and helped the visitors reach the target with two balls to spare.

India were cruising at 163 for four but the collapse triggered by Steven Finn and Graeme Wright, who took four and two wickets respectively, left India in a precarious position.

However, Sumanth kept his composure as others lost theirs late on, to help seal a 3-0 series win for India. Virat Kohli (41) and last match's hero Aziz Parveez (34) made vital contributions at the top to make the job easier for Sumanth.

Earlier, England's total of 230 for seven was built around Ben Wright's unbeaten 68 and Steven Mullaney's quickfire 33 off 19 balls.

The duo shared a 68-run partnership to give respectability to the hosts' total after they also went through a middleorder collapse.

Chris Thompson made 41 and also helped repair the damage caused by the loss of Mark Stoneman to the second ball of the game.

Ishant Sharma was once again the pick of the Indian bolwers as he took two wickets conceding 39 runs in his nine overs.

Brief scores:

England under-19: 230 forĀ 7 (Ben Wright 68 not out, Ishant Sharma 2/39)

India under-19: 231 forĀ 9 (Bodapati Sumanth 97, Steven Finn 4/47)
