North Zone clinched the Deodhar Trophy after defeating East by 52-runs on the rain rule, in the last league encounter of the limited-overs cricket tournament in Jaipur on Thursday.

North defeated East by VJD [V Jayadevan] method, after bad light forced the match to be called off midway through the latter's innings. They were helped by South Zone's thrilling two-run win over West in another match.

Mithun Manhas struck 105 for his second successive century while Reetinder Singh Sodhi made an unbeaten 108 to propel North to a challenging 284 for three at the Sawai Mansingh stadium.

East, out of the reckoning, were 146 for six in 30.4 overs when play was called off and were found 52 short of the par score of 198.

North bagged five points including two bonus points, which pushed their tally from nine to 14 and put them top of the table in the final analysis.

On the other hand, West saw the title slip out of their hands after leading with 12 points going into the match against South at Udaipur.

West Zone went into today's match with 12 points while North had nine but after the match, North had 13, thus just about managing to pip West to the title.
