Regaining Ashes is Warne's goal

Aside from 'whipping the Poms' in the Ashes, Australia's maverick leg-spinner Shane Warne says he has set himself few targets in the short or long term.

The 37-year-old nemesis of the England cricket team says victory in the series against Australia's oldest foes starting in Brisbane next month is his main concern.

"I have got no real long-term goals, I'm not a big goal setter," Warne told local media in Adelaide on Wednesday ahead of Victoria's Pura Cup match against South Australia.

"I just want to play my part this year in hopefully regaining the Ashes and whipping the Poms but other than that, I haven't looked past cricket this (Australian) summer."

England won the Ashes for the first time in 18 years with a 2-1 home series victory last year.

Warne's 685 Test wickets is the highest in the history of the game and the Victorian admits retirement has been a distant notion despite entering his 16th year of international action.

"Retirement and when is the time to finish is all about enjoyment, when the enjoyment stops, I suppose you do," Warne added.

"And when you are not pulling your weight in the side or not performing the way you would like or you feel yourself going backwards -- the enjoyment is not there, you stop.

"But at the moment I'm enjoying the challenges that lie ahead.

He said his charity work and various business interests would take up more of his time once he decides to hang up his boots, although he would not be drawn on whether he intended making one last trip to England for the 2009 Ashes renewal.

"I am starting to set myself up but at the moment it's just cricket and try and get through this summer."
