India fast bowler Ajit Agarkar has been ruled out the remaining matches of the ICC Champions Trophy due to an injury.

The Mumbai pacer fractured his left thumb while attempting to stop a return shot off his own bowling in the match against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Thursday, confirmed Board of Control for Cricket in India media manager Rajan Nair.

"We have requested the ICC for a replacement for Agarkar. If the replacement is approved, his place in the squad will be taken by S Sreesanth in Mohali," Nair told rediff.com on Friday.

Agarkar will take around four weeks to recover fully from the injury.

He might also miss the initial part of the South African tour, the team for which will be picked on Monday.
