The Indians can breathe easy.

Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson, who terrorised them in the day-night clash in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, will take no further part in the DLF Cup tri-series.

The 24-year-old left-arm fast bowler, who claimed his career best 4-11 to wreck the Indian top order, is set to return home, skipper Ricky Ponting said after the rain-abandoned match at the Kinrara Oval.

Johnson will be accompanied by opening batsman Phil Jaques and all-rounder Mark Cosgrove on the return flight.

Ponting said he felt sorry for Johnson but added that it was a "pre-planned" decision.

"It was all pre-planned into the process of the tournament. It doesn't reflect on their performance since the decision (to send them home) was taken long time ago," Ponting said.

The Australian team management had decided weeks ago to send back these three players after the first two games of the tri-series.

Johnson's scalps included the prized wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

He also had Irfan Pathan bowled for a first ball duck and Yuvraj Singh for naught in three balls.
