The Board of Control for Cricket in India's all-powerful Working Committee will meet in Mumbai on Sunday to discuss the contentious seven-point guidelines issued to the selectors.

Chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar is against the guidelines which has banned him and other selectors from writing newspaper columns. He also wants the BCCI to compensate him for discontinuing his regular columns.

The tussle reached a flashpoint when Vengsarkar offered to resign due to the ban. However, BCCI president Sharad Pawar calmed his nerves promising that proper compensation would be given to the selectors paving the way for the former India captain to attend the selection panel meeting in Bangalore on last Monday.

Vengsarkar on Saturday met Pawar at the latter's residence in the presence of president-elect Shashank Manohar.

"It was a very good meeting. We discussed a lot of things about Indian cricket and all the other issues. It went very well," Vengsarkar said.

Pawar, in his bid to downplay the issue, said, "Whenever I come to Mumbai I meet Vengsarkar" while refusing to elaborate on the issue.

Saturday's meeting followed the Board's announcement to increase the allowances of the selectors and all other members.

BCCI's Finance Committee hiked the dearness allowance from Rs 5000 to 10,000 and the travelling allowance from Rs 7000 to 10,000 for selectors and members.

The discussions Vengsarkar had with Pawar and Manohar this morning are to come up at the Working Committee meeting to elicit the view of its members and find a solution, according to BCCI sources.

It remains to be seen whether the chief selector would succeed in relaxing the guidelines.

Among other matters which are to come up at the Working Committee meeting are, ratification of appointment of Indian team coach Gary Kirsten and choosing a new national under-19 coach in place of Lalchand Rajput, who has become the national team's assistant coach for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Passing of budgets for the tour of Australia, the under-19 team's tour to South Africa and the World Cup in Malaysia and the passing of various sub-committee's reports, including that of the Finance Committee, are also part of the agenda.

The Special General Meeting has also been convened to incorporate the formation of the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League headed by BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi, who has been appointed as its chairman-cum-commissioner.

"The Working Committee would also be provided with updates on the IPL, including signing up amounts fixed for various players," according to the sources.
