India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been cleared of dissent following a hearing into his reaction to an umpiring decision in the first Test against Australia.

Yuvraj was charged with dissent by match referee Mike Procter after pausing for several seconds and taking his time leaving the ground when given out by umpire Billy Bowden just before tea on the second day on Thursday.

The 26-year-old attended a hearing with Procter and the other match officials after the third day's play, in which they examined video evidence before clearing him.

"It was evident that Yuvraj took more time than normal to leave the crease but it was due to the fact that he was shocked at the decision," Procter said in a statement.

"At no stage he showed displeasure or dissent at the umpire's decision."
