Truth has prevailed: Dalmiya

Buoyed by the Calcutta high court order staying his suspension from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, former Board president Jagmohan Dalmiya said his stand has been vindicated.

"My stand is vindicated and truth has prevailed. It only goes on to prove that the judiciary in India is still vibrant," Dalmiya said at a crowded media meet hours after the high court order.

Dalmiya claimed the BCCI had taken a beating in three cases against him.

"First, it took a beating before the Bombay high court in connection with the criminal case lodged against me.

"Thereafter, the Supreme Court upheld the order of the Bombay high court and this time I have got a huge relief from the Calcutta high court," he said.

Terming as illegal BCCI's decision last December to expel him, he said he resigned from the Cricket Association of Bengal as it was being victimised by the board.

"After taking the illegal decision to expel me, they wrote a letter to CAB on December 17 dictating that I cannot continue as CAB president. I could have fought and might not have resigned as CAB president," the seasoned cricket administrator said.

"But the BCCI mandarins were hell-bent on coercing and taking the association to ransom. A fear psychosis was created. CAB was made a victim by the board and  therefore I chose to resign," he said.
