Sri Lanka have recalled former captain Marvan Atapattu for their Test series against Bangladesh starting this month.

Atapattu, 36, last played Test cricket against India in 2005 before he was sidelined for 18 months with a serious back injury.

The right-handed batsman, a veteran of 88 Tests, returns in place of Sanath Jayasuriya, who retired from Test cricket after this year's World Cup.

Uncapped left-hand batsman Malinda Warnapura and left-arm pace bowler Sujeewa de Silva are the two new faces in the 15-man test squad.

Muralitharan and left-arm swing bowler Chaminda Vaas will return to Sri Lanka after stints playing county cricket for Lancashire and Middlesex respectively, but will miss the one-day series to allow two younger bowlers an opportunity.

Batsmen Jehan Mubarak and Chamara Kapugedera have been called up for the one-day series only and will return home midway through Sri Lanka A's tour to England.

Sriyan Samaratne, a former Air Force cricketer and administrator, has been named manager in place of Michael Tissera who retired after the World Cup.
