Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday denied reports that he would be a part of the breakaway Indian Cricket League.
"It's not true. There are too many stories going around in Indian cricket and anyone speaks anything and that gets printed. Time has come to clarify things because it is not good for an individual and the team. I have had no discussions with anyone and neither do I intend," he told reporters in Chittagong.
The former India captain added that the competition for breaking news recently had seen a lot of false stories being floated around.
"Too many false stories are going around, I know there is competition for news but we have to get responsible at some stage. Time has come for everyone to clarify because a lot of lies are going around. We are just a phone call away and it's not fair to print one side of the story," Ganguly said.
The Indian Cricket League intends to conduct Twenty20 matches featuring six teams by the end of the year. Each team would consist of four overseas players and two current or recent India internationals.
Former India captain Kapil Dev has been named as head of the Executive Board of the Indian Cricket League.
The other members of the Board include former stumper and ex-chief selector Kiran More, former England captain Tony Greg and Australian cricketer-turned-commentator Dean Jones.
