India elect to bat in first Test vs Bangladesh

India captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh in the first Test at the Chittagong Divisional stadium, in Chittagong, on Friday.

India left out V V S Laxman and Yuvraj Singh, opting to go in with five bowlers. Pacers V R V Singh and R P Singh were included in the eleven after Munaf Patel failed to pass a fitness test in the morning.

Dinesh Karthik will open the innings with Wasim Jaffer, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni will don the wicketkeeper's gloves.

For Bangladesh, 20-year-old Saqibul Hasan was been handed his Test debut.
Veteran Khaled Mashud also makes a comeback to the team after being dropped for the one-dayers.
India won the three-match one-day series 2-0, as the third match in Chittagong was washed out.

India: Rahul Dravid (captain), Wasim Jaffer, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, M S Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Ramesh Powar, Dinesh Karthik, V R V Singh, R P Singh.

Bangladesh: Habibul Bashar (captain), Javed Omar, Mohammad Ashraful, Saqibul Hasan, Khaled Mashud, Rajin Saleh, Shahriar Nafees, Mohammad Rafique, Enamul Haque Jr., Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain.
