Brett Lee took three of the five wickets to fall on the fifth day as Australia beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 40 runs in the first Test in Brisbane on Monday.

Resuming on 5-218, after following-on, Sri Lanka went to lunch after a rain-affected mroning session on 290-9 and were soon dismissed for 300 shortly after the break.

Less than 90 minutes play was possible in the first session as rain twice forced the players off the field.

Man-of-the-match Lee, leading the attack for the first time since Glenn McGrath's retirement, finished with four wickets for 86 runs in the second innings for match figures of eight for 112.
