Spin wizards Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne on Thursday ended their brief war of words after patching up at the unveiling ceremony of the 'Warne-Muralitharan Trophy' and described the entire saga as 'miscommunication'.
The episode started after Warne, in his newspaper column, asked the ICC to test Murali's bowling action in match conditions.
The remark infuriated Muralitharan, who later hit back at the legendary Aussie, calling him a 'miserable man'.
''Maybe he just doesn't want me to pass his record. Why else would he keep saying these things? I will shake his hand at the ceremony and go straight off the field instead of trying to be friendly,'' said Murali, who needs just seven more Test wickets to overtake the Warne's world record tally of 708.
However, the two legends laughed and joked their way through the trophy unveiling ceremony on Thursday, saying reports of tensions between them were a ''miscommunication''.
''There is no issue at all. I thought he said something about my bowling action and then I said he was a miserable man. We just talked to each other and patched it up,'' a smiling Muralitharan was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph.
''It was a miscommunication more than anything else,'' he added, sitting beside Warne.
Warne also clarified his stand on the controversy, saying both of them are good friends and he has no issues with Murali.
''I spoke to Murali about it this morning; so I'm pretty happy actually, I'm not that miserable. I've got absolutely no issue with Murali and his action or anything like that.
''All I've said is if umpires or anybody has any issue with actions, I'm not saying Murali's but anyone's in world cricket, then they should be tested in match conditions,'' he explained.
''I've enjoyed having it (the world record). I'm happy to pass it on to Murali. I think he'll take a thousand (wickets),'' Warne added.
