The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Monday refused to confirm that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is bidding to buy a team in next year's Indian Premier League (IPL) but revealed that more than 100 bidders have already approached the board to buy a franchise for the Twenty20 extravaganza.

BCCI Vice President Lalit Modi, also the Chairman of the IPL Governing Council, refused to disclose details about the bidders but said the response has been overwhelming.

"I'm not going to say whether Shah Rukh is bidding for a team or not. I guess there has been lot of media speculation about possible bidders but I'm not giving out names. We would soon start sorting and would come up with a comprehensive list of bidders in the right time," Modi said after a meeting of the board in New Delhi today.

In today's meeting, the franchise prospectus was approved and it would be out in a week's time in both print and electronic formats.

It was also decided that the tender for media rights would be floated next week.

"We would issue the tender next week and it would be for a five-year term with the base price being USD 59 million for the first year," Modi said.

BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah, joint secretary MP Pandove, treasurer N Srinivasan, Vice President Rajeev Shukla and former captains Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri were among those who attended the meeting.
