Injured pace bowlers RP Singh and S Sreesanth have been asked to go to Kolkata and undergo a fitness test overseen by Indian team physio John Gloster ahead of the second Test against Pakistan.
"RP Singh and Sreesanth have been asked to be in Kolkata and their fitness will be assessed by John Gloseter," said Cricket Board's secretary Niranjan Shah.
"An update on their injuries would be given to the board by Gloster. I don't know anything more on the subject presently," Shah said when queried about news reports saying Sreesanth may miss the Australian tour because of his shoulder injury.
The Kerala pacer sustained the injury while fielding in the fifth and final ODI match at Jaipur on November 18 and had to miss the first Test along with left armer RP Singh who suffered a side strain.
"Ishant Sharma will also be in Kolkata as a cover but would rejoin the Delhi Ranji Trophy squad if he does not find a place in the second Test eleven," Shah said. Sharma was inducted into the squad along with Munaf Patel as cover for the two injured bowlers before the Delhi Test but only the latter made it to the eleven.
Subsequently Sharma was released from the Indian squad and played in the four-day Ranji Trophy tie for DelhiĀ against Mumbai which ended on Monday.
The second Test at Kolkata's Eden Gardens is to be played between November 30 and December 4.
