Former Australia coach John Buchanan is in discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board about helping the country's coaching and management system.

"He is interested in coming to Pakistan but when he comes it remains to be decided," Shafqat Naghmi, the chief executive of the board said on Tuesday.

"We want him to come and train our coaches and since he has been associated with the management of Australian Cricket we also feel he can help us further improve our cricket system."

Buchanan led Australia to two World Cup titles in 2003 and 2007 and to the top of the world rankings. He stepped down as national coach in April.

The PCB official said Buchanan would have nothing to do with the coaching of the national team.

"Buchanan had written to us offering his consultancy services and given his successful background we felt he could do something positive for our cricket," he said.
