It was a breakthrough year for Team India [ Images ] as they emerged as the cricketing world's new superpower in 2008 with consistent performances in both Tests and One-Day Internationals.

Gautam Gambhir [ Images ] was the star performer for India with the bat with more than 1000 runs in both Tests and ODIs, that included three centuries each in both formats.

Harbhajan Singh [ Images ] ended as India's top wicket-taker in Tests with a tally of 63 wickets in 13 matches, while youngster Ishant Sharma [ Images ] continued making waves as he claimed 27 wickets in 19 ODIs.
