ODI rankings: England can displace India

India will lose its fourth spot in the ICC ODI rankings to seventh-placed England if Paul Collingwood's men sweep the five-match series against New Zealand, starting June 15.

Fresh from their victory over New Zealand in the Test series, which helped them move up to third in the ICC Test Championship, England have the opportunity to rise to fourth in the ODI list if they sweep the series, irrespective of how Saturday's tri-series final in Bangladesh, between India and Pakistan, pans out.

However, if the clean-sweep result is reversed then Paul Collingwood's side will drop from 105 to 101 ratings points to give the West Indies a sniff of seventh spot when its ODI series against Australia starts on June 24.

At the same time, a 5-0 series win will see New Zealand rocket to 118 points and reduce the gap to front-runners South Africa and Australia, who sit on 127 ratings points each.

In case England claim the series 4-1, they will join New Zealand on 109 points but behind the Black Caps in fifth position when the ratings are recalculated beyond the decimal point.

If England win the series 3-2 they will leapfrog Sri Lanka into sixth place while New Zealand will drop to fourth behind India, which will also be their position if Daniel Vettori's side wins the series 3-2 and India wins the tri-series final.

In the rankings for ODI batsmen, England's Kevin Pietersen, in eighth-place, has an opportunity to return to the top five if he can maintain the form that saw him score 115 (his 12th Test hundred) in the final Test of the recently-concluded series with New Zealand.

South Africa captain Graeme Smith leads the table from India's Sachin Tendulkar with Australia captain Ricky Ponting in third place.

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori leads the Rankings for ODI bowlers while the other Black Caps bowlers in the top 20 are the absent Shane Bond, Kyle Mills and Oram.

England's highest-ranked bowler in the absence of 15th-placed Andrew Flintoff is James Anderson in 24th place while Stuart Broad is in 36th position.
