Dhruv Mahajan's all round show helped Delhi Giants score a close seven-run victory over Hyderabad Heroes in the Indian Cricket League match in Gurgaon on Monday.

Dhruv first played a handy knock of 36-runs to help his side reach a competitive total of 137 for eight and then claimed two wickets in the last over of the match to restrict opponents to 130 for eight in their 20 overs.

Heroes' run-chase was far from ideal as it lost its top-four batsmen when the scorecard was reading just 17.

Paceman T Sudhindra wreaked havoc early in Heroes' innings as he accounted for top-three batsmen Shashank Nag (3) Anirudh Singh (3) and AT Rayudu (6).

S Binny (50) and Justin Kemp (33) then did the repair work by building a 61-run stand for the fifth wicket but once Kemp departed Heroes crumbled under pressure.

All hopes for Heroes' were on Binny but Mahajan sent him back on the first ball of the final over and then removed dangerous Chris Harris (20) on the next ball.

Earlier, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq (4/23) put up a brilliant show with ball to help Hyderabad Heroes restrict Delhi Giants to 137 for eight.

The Delhi side had a decent start after electing to bat, as openers Awishka Gunawardene and Mohnish Mishra piled up 18 runs in the first three overs.

South African Justine kemp drew the first blood in the fourth over removing Mishra (14).

Mahajan (36) and Gunawardene (28) then combined to weave a 61-run partnership for the second wicket with the former being more aggressive.

Mahajan smashed Absolem for a boundary and a six in the fifth over and then smacked Kemp for a boundary in the next over before hitting a boundary each in the eight and ninth over.

Shekhar Reddy broke the partnership when he had Mahajan caught by Chris Harris at short fine leg.

Nicky Boje struck in the next over as he picked up the wicket of Gunawardane, who was stumped by Khirid.

Abhinav Bali (12) and Abass Ali then took the score to 113 before the former Bali was picked up by Abdur Razzaq behind the wicket.

Razzaq struck in the same over when he clean bowled JP Yadav (1) with an incoming delivery to make it 115 for 5 in 17 overs for Giants.
