Pakistan's controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar says he is ready to face charges of indiscipline brought against him by the Cricket Board and will appear before the disciplinary committee on April 1.

Akhtar has been charged with giving statements against the policies of the Board and spoiling the team spirit of the Federal Areas side whom he captained in one match of the recent Pentangular Cup. He faces several counts of violation of the PCB Players Code of Conduct.

"I will submit my viewpoint when I appear before it. I am still very keen to play for Pakistan against Bangladesh in the upcoming series and I don't think my career is finished," the fast bowler told reporters on Wednesday after training at the National Academy.

Akhtar said the disciplinary committee had called him for a hearing on March 22 but could not make it because of the short time and since he was in Rawalpindi.

"I am not running away from this case against me. I have my side of the story. No one should doubt my commitment to the country," he said.

The Chairman of the disciplinary committee, Munir Hafeez has said no action would be taken against Akhtar and Danish Kaneria without first hearing them out.

Akhtar said he was even willing to sacrifice some matches of the lucrative Indian Premier League if selected to play for Pakistan against Bangladesh.

The IPL starts from April 18 while Pakistan play Bangladesh between April 8 and 21.

"I have always given preference to playing for my country. I want to play for another two to three years and end with more wickets for my country."
