Vice-captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes his team might not be able to pose any challenge at all in the home series against arch rivals India early next year because of the lack of international cricket.
India is scheduled to play three Tests and five ODIs in Pakistan during January-February next year.
In 2007, Pakistan returned empty-handed as they lost Test and ODI series in India and this time the hosts would be keen to avenge that loss.
However, Misbah, who has been Pakistan's one of the most successful batsmen for quite some time, is not too sure about whether his team would be able to avenge its 2007 loss and could end up ill-prepared for the home series.
''We haven't played any Test match this year and rarely played against top quality teams in one-dayers as well,'' he said.
''The postponement of the ICC Champions Trophy has further damaged our cause and I am afraid we might suffer because of a lack of quality cricket ahead of the series against India,'' Misbah added.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been trying to do their every bit to arrange for an international tournament in the country so that its team does not find itself short of practice against arch rivals India.
Recently, the PCB has requested West Indies to play two Tests in Lahore in November.
Misbah said he and his fellow players should make the most of domestic games to regain their peak fitness and rhythm before the India series.
''The series against India is our most important assignment and we will have to ensure that we are fully ready in spite of all the problems,'' he noted.
