Khairnar to demolish reputations through autobiography

Bombay's controversial suspended deputy municipal commissioner G R Khairnar is all set to write an autobiography -- in which he promises to expose the nexus between top political leaders and gangsters.

He said has been approached by many people, including the Pune-based Pushpa Prakashan for his autobiography. "I still have not decided when I will start writing, but it would be very soon as the time has come to reveal the wrongs of people in the higher echelons of society," Khairnar told UNI.

Son of a farmer from a remote village in Nashik district of Maharashtra, Khairnar rose to become the deputy municipal commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation from where he was suspended two years ago following his campaign to expose corruption in high places. He is still fighting a legal battle to restore his position in the civic body.

Khairnar is now busy reading books of literary figures to make his writing perfect. He intends to write the autobiography in both Marathi and Hindi, but the 'Demolition Man' is yet to decide on the title of the book.

The book will feature his childhood and his days of struggle. But he intends to focus primarily on the days when he was DMC in the country's premier civic body. His tenure was rocked by controversies and alleged tussles with the state government, for which he was suspended later.

"My book will contain several startling facts about a person who wanted to kill me, a clerk who rose to one of the highest positions and how the underworld operates and constructs buildings," Khairnar said.
