E-Mail this report to a friend

Former Bombay mayor and Shiv Sena leader Milind Vaidya survived an attempt on his life after two unknown assailants fired one round at him at Bandra in north-west Bombay today.

The police said that while Vaidya was travelling in his Tata Safari near the Mahim-Bandra flyover, two unknown persons came in an autorickshaw and fired one round at him. The incident took place at about 0930 hours.

Vaidya, who received bullet injuries on his jaws, was rushed to the nearby Hinduja hospital. He is reported to be out of danger, the police said.

The Bandra police station has registered a case of attempt to murder. The assailants are still at large and a manhunt has been launched to nab Vaidya's assailants.
