15 drown near SataraAt least 15 villagers are feared drowned when a boat overturned in the backwaters of Koyana dam, about 80 kilometres from Satara, late on Tuesday night. The police said there were 20 people in the boat. Five swam to safety. "The boat was old," the survivors said, "It overturned when it got stuck in the silt." The passengers, all from Kharoshi village, were going to attend the annual fair of their gram devata (village deity) at Kalambe. The authorities and locals are searching for the missing passengers.
