Arun Gawli's wife arrested for builder's murderThe Bombay police on Friday arrested Asha Gawli, wife of the dreaded gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in connection with the sensational Manish Shah murder case. According to police sources, Asha Gawli was picked up by the Malabar Hill police station on Friday afternoon from the gangland bastion, Dagdi Chawl at Byculla in south-central Bombay. Currently she is in the Malabar Hill police station lockup, and would be produced before the metropolitan court on Saturday for remand. A senior police official said the builder's murder was allegedly masterminded by Arun Gawli, who had sent written instructions about the plan to his wife. On Thursday Arun Gawli was also remanded to police custody in the same case. The builder, Manish Shah, was gunned down last month by some henchmen owing allegiance to Arun Gawli, near his Malabar Hill home, police sources said. Gawli has been imprisoned at the Amravati jail for the past few months on various charges of murder and extortion. UNI
