Readers react to T V R Shenoy's recent columnsDate sent: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 12:28:52 +0900From: "Udaya Bhanu" <uday@telecom.samsung.co.kr> Subject: The Sun does not rise and set on Amma's whim... Great Mr Shenoy! Wisdom on Rediff at last! Why don't you send this piece to Pritish Nandy who was drooling over amma's uprightness? That should do him some good. I agree with you that she is being given too much and unnecessary coverage (by apparently top journalists like Mr Pritish Nandy, for example) which is the root cause of all trouble. She has no moral authority to talk about corruption. She is the ugliest face of corruption. It is a pity that Tamil voters voted for her. I wish they did not. Actually, they voted for the BJP and amma claims it as her achievement. Uday
Date sent: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 11:08:55 -0000 Your articles have been helping me to dilute my jinx about mod-day journalists!! You've made a perfect point when you distinguished between the PM's action and the media perception in Buta Singh's issue. With the media being a powerful weapon in a democracy, there is every chance of mediapersons misusing the privilege to foster their own hidden agenda!!! The result is, the readers will be 'given' toxic dozes to consume. Fighting for the truth apart, the readers will fight for a devil's cause!!! Gone are the days when we had responsible editors/journalists around. However, you look like an exception! Please keep the direction. Raviraj Rao
Date sent: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 13:17:42 The article seems to tell the truth about Jaya's intentions and her options if she bring down the BJP alliance government by her continuing bickerings. The BJP had better time with Mayawati than this lady. Keep up good work Shri Shenoy.

More importantly, it is very responsible journalism -- which is an almost dead spectacle in today's newspapers, magazines, rags and Internet bulletin boards. Mr Shenoy should be commended for his article.

The MDMK has been opposing the dismissal of the DMK government. Besides they know that the dismissal will be unpopular as will be the withdrawal of support to the BJP. For one thing it is not clear whether the support they got was because of the alliance with the BJP or because of the alliance with the AIADMK. I guess as a result of Naidu's support -- the absence of 10 odd AIADMK MPs will not affect the BJP's majority. Kalyan
Date sent: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 17:43:57 +0900 Well said. There should be a way to control the actions of the governors, as well the process of appointing governors for political means -- Bhandari being the example. The President ought to have the right to remove a governor on sufficient grounds. What an insult it was for the post of the President that despite his request Bhandari was not dropped? I am happy that the attorney-general approved the most positive thing to have happened in India in a long time. I am now looking forward for articles on the following from you: 1. Lokpal bill, covering even the PM. 2. Complete autonomy to the state news agencies. 3. Revision of the reservations issue. Uday
