My compliments to Mr Shenoy. The column was an eye opener and I believe he should not stop with that. The guilty should be brought to book. They (the guilty) are playing with the careers and life of principled men and a reputed institute for measly gains. This is a bigger sin and crime than what they were supposed to unearth -- a non-existent espionage ring! Hagwashers should be punished with death. The CBI, IB, FERA and such institutions are ruining the country in the process of bringing pride to their respective departments.

Mr Shenoy,

Your article is brilliant. It raises so many questions which the so-called high-profile journalist, Mr Pritish Nandy, would love to avoid. Please make sure you mail the article to him.

Subject: TVR Shenoy on Bofors

Readers like me are pleased to have incisive commentators like Shenoy who are bringing out the truth about Bofors. Now it is time to challenge commentators like Pritish Nandy, Kuldip Nayar etc, who have been feeding false propaganda of bogus secularism for years. Unless the intellectual Kshatriya readers get involved in a large way, we cannot stop the mass propaganda of these pseudo-intellectual Congress and Marxist liars. Arise! Intellectual Kshatryias! Don't let them butcher Truth!

Well said! Amma and Sonia cannot talk about corruption -- and that too against morally good people like Hedge, who resigned after he lost the Lok Sabha election in '85. Very well written. Keep going!

I could not but send in my tuppence after reading the above article. Agreed, coming from JJ, the "Sack tainted ministers" slogan sounds atrocious, but the BJP, especially Vajpayee, do not deserve any sympathy either.

"Knowing Atal Bihari Vajpayee's long cherished, often proclaimed views on corruption, would he really have kept Buta Singh in his ministry?" asks Mr Shenoy. I ask, would he have inducted him in the first place if he is all that Mr Shenoy claims he is? Don't give me the "compulsions" crap because you know that is not what it is.

The moment a criminal (read JJ) bailed his party out of trouble, Mr Vajpayee lost the moral right to talk ideological bullshit. After all, this is the same party which scoffed at the 13-something party coalition govt which they replaced. Also, this is the same party which was baying for the blood of corrupt politicians (!) when they were in the opposition. Times change, don't they? Which reminds me of that joke about lawyers: "criminal lawyer" is redundant -- and so is "corrupt politician!"

I fail to understand why Vajpayee is being elevated to saintdom, if there is such a thing. If he is an upright, principled blah blah blah, he should have stayed away from vermins like JJ and sought confidence vote on his party's strength alone. I think the previous near miss (13-day tryst with power !) has made him desperate and he did not want to lose this opportunity too -- talk about losers!

The fundamentalist side of the BJP is more frightening (look at the RSS, VHP and the other "sister" organisations) -- they are making a lot of noise these days and it is not a coincidence. Just when we thought Ayodhya was a closed chapter, the VHP roars and says that it is still on their agenda. I just pray to my namesake (Lord Ram) to drive some sense into these fools's heads. I shudder to even think what would happen if these jokers have their way.

Tail piece:

Q: "Who will survive if Laloo, Mulayam, JJ, Sukh Ram and every corrupt politician worth his salt is on the Titanic which hits an iceberg and sinks?"

A: "INDIA!!!!"

Sincerely,
Sriram
