Salim Khan's bail extended by four weeks

Justice Y F Rebello of the Bombay high court today extended the interim anticipatory bail of scriptwriter Salim Khan for four weeks, which was earlier granted to him during Diwali vacation by Justice B K Deshpande.

Salim Khan, father of actor Salman Khan has been accused of keeping endangered species of animals in his farmhouse at Panvel, nearly 90 km from Bombay.

Justice Rebello, while extending the anticipatory bail directed Salim Khan to initially deposit Rs 1lakh and at the time of arrest furnish two sureties of Rs 1lakh.

The judge also said he should deposit his passport to the wildlife authorities and attend the office deputy conservator of Alibaug on Mondays and Thursdays between 2 pm and 6 pm during the one-month period.

The court also noted that there was need to increase awareness to protect wildlife. The court also directed Salim Khan, who is a writer, to use the might of his pen to increase awareness, and asked him to bring out a scheme in this regard.

He also granted anticipatory bail to his driver Babloo Singh after furnishing a surety of Rs 5,000 and directed him not to leave the city without the prior permission of the court.
