Multimillionaire held for car-lifting in BombayA multimillionaire allegedly running a car-lifting racket was picked up by the police from Bandra in north-west Bombay. According to police sources, the accused, Shaukat Nazar Husain Sarkar, 46, who runs Metro Palace at Bandra and Metro International hotels in Sakinaka in north-west Bombay was arrested by the police and 11 cars were seized from his possession. The accused is also said to be owner of at least 100 LPG tankers and had constructed over 15 buildings in Bandra and Andheri. The police also picked up his manager Kailash Thakur and his bodyguards Mohammad Kasim and Nazim Ahmed, who were helping Sarkar in car thefts. The four will be produced before the metropolitan court tomorrow for remand, the police said. The accused were allegedly involved in stealing cars, changing number plates and producing fake documents of vehicles. Eleven cars were seized from Sarkar -- two Tata Estates, four Tata Seirras, two Tata Sumos, one Maruti Esteem, one Armada and one Maruti 800. The seizure was valued at Rs 6 million. The accused allegedly have connections with the underworld. Further investigation is on, police sources added. UNI
