Filmmaker Nanabhai Bhatt deadNoted filmmaker Nanabhai Bhatt died in Bombay's Nanavati hospital. He was 87. He is survived by four sons, including director Mahesh Bhatt, producer Mukesh Bhatt and scriptwriter Robin Bhatt. The end came at 1615 hours in the intensive care unit of the Nanavati hospital, where he was admitted for the last one week. He suffered a heart attack and sank into coma in the afternoon, family sources said. During his career spanning 30 years in the Hindi film industry, Nanabhai made about 100 films as producer-director. All his films were entertainers. He started as a sound recordist, and ventured into filmmaking with Muqabla in 1932. His last film was Jeevan rekha, starring Pran and Farida Jalal, in the early 70s. His other popular films include Mr Z, Zimbo comes to town, Lal Quila, Sindabad the sailor and Rocket girl. He was born in Porbandar, Gujarat and came to Bombay in the early 30s. UNI
