Action to be taken on Srikrishna panel reportThe new Congress government in Maharashtra will observe the rule of law with regard to the Srikrishna Commission report that dealt with the Bombay riots of 1993, Congress spokesman Ajit Jogi said today. He was reacting to a question at a press briefing here on utterances of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on possible action being taken against him in the light of the commission report. Jogi said the Congress government is a rule of the law government and that the rule of the law would be observed. He refused to elaborate saying, "Wait and see." Asked whether Congress President Sonia Gandhi's decision to quit the Bellary Lok Sabha seat was prompted by any dispute in her family as reported in a section of the press, Jogi said the report was "baseless and malicious". |
