A-I plane lands safely following bomb scare

E-Mail this report to a friend

Air-India New York-London-New Delhi flight 112, about which there was a rumour that a bomb had been planted on board, landed at Indira Gandhi airport in New Delhi at 2250 hours IST on Tuesday night and all passengers disembarked safely.

As soon as the plane entered Indian airspace, there was a call, allegedly by a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, that a bomb had been placed on the aircraft. For safety reasons, it was initially decided to divert the plane. Later, it was brought directly to Delhi.

All passengers and crew disembarked safely and security agencies, bomb squad and sniffer dogs inspected the plane.

A maximum alert was sounded at the airport and fire engines were kept ready as the aircraft landed.

Earlier, there was a rumour that the flight had been hijacked.
