FTII students on strikeStudents of the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune went on a strike from Tuesday demanding scrapping of the new course structure. The students have alleged that the new structure is fundamentally flawed and detrimental to a healthy learning atmosphere, which a premier institute like FTII should provide. They demanded that FTII revert to the earlier pattern. The authorities received the notice for the strike with a charter of demands on Monday. However, there has been no positive response from the concerned authorities so far, the Students Association of FTII said in a release. The students have been boycotting classes for the last 12 days. They have also made representations to the Academic Council, Governing Council and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley in this regard, it said. On August 25, the students met all the members of the faculty, including the 'G-14' members. The G-14 is a committee comprising 14 members of the faculty who claim to have devised the new course structure, the release added. EARLIER REPORT
