E-Mail this report to a friend

A 10-year-old boy was injured when a ''bomb-like'' object exploded in Andheri in the western suburbs of Bombay, the police said.

The bomb-disposal squad and the dog squad have been rushed to the spot outside the Vidya Siksha Mandir off Bhavan's College in Andheri, the police said, adding that the explosion occurred when the child was trying to pick up a ball. A team of experts and top police officers have reached the site to carry out investigations.

The boy, Zubaid Gani Patel, has been admitted to a local hospital and is reported to be out of danger, the police said. When the object, suspected to be a timer device, exploded, the child received injuries on his face and hand from the splinters.
