Ship grounded off Bombay coastA merchant ship was stranded off Raj Bhavan in south Bombay in the wee hours of today following gusty winds and heavy rains. Sources told UNI here that the ship drifted late last night because of inclement weather conditions and grounded nearly a kilometre west off the state governor's house. The sources said the crew members were safe. The flag of the ship was still unknown even though a rescue mission has been launched. ''The crew is trying to steer the course of the ship and help it come out of shallow waters,'' the sources said. The Malabar Hill police station was informed by the Raj Bhavan authorities and the police control room has been alerted. It is learnt that boats of the Bombay police will soon be despatched to the location. The Coast Guard has also been alerted, and are trying to reach the vessel. The city and neighbouring areas have been experiencing heavy rains since the past two days. UNI
