Mild quake rocks Koyna in Maharashtra

An earthquake of mild intensity rocked the Koyna region of Maharashtra this morning but there was no report of damage to life or property.

According to the India Meteorological Department in New Delhi, the tremor, registering 4.2 on the Richter Scale had its epicentre at 17.2 degrees north and 73.6 degrees east in the Koyna region of Maharashtra, which has experienced several such shocks in recent days.

The quake, described as of ''slight intensity'' by the met. Department, took place at 0913 hrs.
