Noose for Milind Vaidya's assailantsA special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court Tuesday awarded death sentence to three of the six Chhota Shakeel gangsters involved in the assassination bid on former Mumbai mayor Milind Vaidya last year. The special court, presided over by Justice A P Bhangale, sentenced one of accused to life imprisonment and two others to ten years of rigorous imprisonment. Justice Bhangale, who on Monday held six of the accused guilty and acquitted two, awarded the death penalty in a packed courtroom. Those who face the death sentence are Mohammed Zuber Sheikh, Abdul Fazal and Azzizuddin Sheikh, an ISI agent and member of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayiba. Hasan, who drove the vehicle in which the assailants escaped, has been sentenced to life imprisonment, while Farooq Rangari and Mansoor Pankar have been awarded ten years of rigorous imprisonment each.
