Leader of the Opposition in legislative assembly Narayan Rane stated that he would go in appeal to the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court's strictures passed against him in the Poona Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee land transfer case.
Speaking to newspersons at Vidhan Bhavan, the Shiv Sena leader said, "After the Democratic Front government came to power, the government filed the unchanged affidavit made during the previous Shiv Sena-BJP government rule. He said that despite the court's passing strictures against four Democratic Front ministers, Ramkrishna More, Sunil Tatkare, Vasant Chavan and Dilip Valse Patel, no one had resigned."
Commenting on the Essel World land re-transfer case, which happened when he was revenue minister, he said that the DF government was trying to spread such news to create pressure on the opposition. Rane said that a section of the media was carrying such news to malign him.
He said that under the Revenue Act 1966, there was a provision for a review or an appeal of a decision.
Rane said if his decision was wrong, the DF government could have changed it. But it had not done so.
