J W Singh's bail plea rejected

The Bombay high court Friday rejected the bail application of suspended sessions judge J W Singh and asked the special MCOCA court to expedite his trial.

Justice Shafi Parkar refused the bail plea as the alleged accused may hamper and tamper with evidence and hence needed to be in custody.

Singh was arrested by the Bombay police for his alleged nexus with Karachi-based gangster Chhota Shakeel, based on a telephonic conversation.

Later, he was suspended and then dismissed by the Maharashtra Government's law department.
