R H Mendonca reinstated as
Director General of ACB

Senior Indian Police Service officer and Bombay's former Commissioner of Police R H Mendonca on Tuesday formally took charge as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau from P K Iyengar.

Iyengar has been moved as Managing Director of the Maharashtra Police Housing and Welfare Corporation. A beaming Mendonca told reporters that he was happy to be back and resolved to continue to fight against corruption.

''I want to have the support of the public as without them, it was not possible,'' he said.

The state government gave Mendonca the reinstating orders hours after the Supreme Court judgement on Monday, which upheld the Bombay High Court order for his reinstatement.
