The militants opened fire at the gate of Singh's house on Tuesday night but no one was hurt in the incident, they said.
Singh, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, who had suffered injuries when angry demonstrators set fire to the state assembly building on June 18, is undergoing treatment at Safdarjang hospital in Delhi, family sources said.
The sources said that the militants escaped under cover of darkness after firing several rounds. This was the second attack on the house of a legislator in the past three days.
Earlier, militants had attacked the private house of former Manipur public health minister Hidam Bidur at Lang Dum in Imphal East district on Monday night.
The motive behind the attack was not known, nor did any group or organisation claim responsibility for the attack.
