The Railways have put the current toll in Friday's derailment of the Mangalore-Madras Mail at 43. Reports coming out of Calicut Medical College Hospital have put the toll at 57.

Divya (Paroppady) 16. Jayan N K (Tirur) 17. Sanjay (Tirur) 18. Vaidyanathan (Kozhikode) 19. Chincu (Perambra) 20. Ebrahim (Pattambi) 21. Appukuttan Namboodiri (Kozhikode) 22. The police have identified five other victims, including some from Ludhiana, but they are yet to confirm the names.
