Sessions court gives Tyagi bail

Bombay's former police commissioner Ramdeo Tyagi, arrested in connection with the 1993 riots, was granted bail by the sessions court on Wednesday.

Judge Abhay Thipsay released Tyagi on bail of Rs 20,000 with surety of like amount.

The judge directed Tyagi not to leave the country without the court's permission.

The Special Task Force constituted to implement the report of the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission of Inquiry had filed a charge sheet against Tyagi and 17 other policemen on August 27, accusing them of firing at a bakery in south-central Bombay and killing eight persons on suspicion of being terrorists in January 1993.
